Quizmaster privacy policy

Last updated: 29 October 2026

This is a translation. The German version is legally binding.

In short

This policy applies to the “Quizmaster” app for iOS and Android. Without an account your progress stays on your device. With an account I only store what friends, duels and the leaderboard need. The app is free and shows ads from Google AdMob, personalised only with your consent. There are no analytics or tracking tools of my own.

Playing without an account

You can play Quizmaster without signing in. Your progress (name, mascot, coins, points, best scores) is stored only on your device and never sent to me. Deleting the app removes it.

Account, friends, duels and leaderboard

Online features require “Sign in with Apple” or “Sign in with Google”. I receive a unique account ID, your email address (with Apple possibly an anonymous relay address) and, if shared, your name. I never receive your password.

Stored are:

Your display name, mascot and points are visible to your friends, to players in your duels and, on the global leaderboard, to other players. Your email address is never shown to anyone.

The legal basis is the performance of the contract of use (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). The data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account and all related data at any time in the app under Profile → Delete account, or send me an email. Your local progress on the device is not affected.

Online data is stored with Supabase Inc., 970 Toa Payoh North #07-04, Singapore 318992, server region EU (Frankfurt, Germany), under a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR. Sign-in uses Apple Inc. or Google LLC, whose privacy policies apply.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Quizmaster is funded by ads from Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Ads never appear during a question: there are optional videos (e.g. a lifeline or double coins for a video) and occasionally an ad between two rounds.

On first launch the app shows Google’s consent dialog (IAB TCF) asking whether Google and its partners may store or access information on your device and use it for personalised ads and measurement. On iOS it then asks via Apple’s App Tracking Transparency whether the advertising identifier (IDFA) may be used. Without consent you see at most non-personalised ads or none at all. The app works the same either way.

Data processed includes the advertising ID (IDFA or Android advertising ID), IP address, device and app information and interactions with ads. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG). You can change or withdraw it at any time in the app under Profile → Privacy, and on iOS also in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Google may transfer data to the USA. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. More: How Google uses information from apps that use its services.

Sharing and invitations

When you share a result or invite friends, the app opens your device’s share sheet (e.g. WhatsApp or Messenger). Whatever you send there is processed by that service. I receive nothing.

Server logs

Requests to the servers (Supabase) technically involve data such as your IP address. It is kept only briefly for security and troubleshooting (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Children

Quizmaster is not directed at children under 13. In the EU, users under 16 need a parent’s or guardian’s approval to consent to personalised ads.

Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object (Art. 21). You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. Just send me an email.

You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for me is the Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen, Prinzenstraße 5, 30159 Hannover, Germany.

No automated decisions

There is no automated decision-making. Profiling only takes place as part of personalised advertising by Google if you have consented.
